Any Houston-dwellers out there?

We're moving to Houston at the end of the month and I've been wanting to start looking for a job. It seems like there are an endless amount of job postings so I'm turning to my nursing buddies for help: What hospital do you work at, days/nights, do your rotate Sunday shifts, what's an average starting salary for the area, what department do you work in?? I have lots of questions and if anyone lives in Houston and could help a sister out, let me know! :)

Thanks!
Aubrey Harris

I don't live in Houston, but good luck with that! You might try Amanda Brannock, I think her husband is doing dental school there and she is (at least was) working as a nurse too. Miss ya girl!

I live in Houston and I work at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. I work in the cardiovascular hospital. I had about 6 months experience when I came and I think I make 28-32 dollars an hour. There is an evening shift differential that adds a few dollars from 3p-7p. I work days 7a-7p , rotating weekends and holidays (12 hour shifts) I really like where I work and I have found Memorial Hermann to be a good employer. Amanda Brannock is here also. We are in the same ward. She works as an ICU nurse at Methodist hospital, I think. She has been here longer than me and could probably give you some helpful info. Good luck to you. If you want any info about houston, where to live, wards etc you can email me at kristin.fronk@gmail.com I was in your class by the way but I was Kristin Roberts then if that rings a bell.
